Are You Ready For School?    

Preparing your child for school is a big undertaking.  There are some great resources below to help parents and their children get ready for school.  A great way to start is by borrowing books and toys from the our Library catalog to make learning even more fun.

Here are sites to help make the transition to Kindergarten a little easier for Parents:

World Book Early World of Learning

Three interactive learning environments for preschoolers and children in early grades. "Trek's Travels" offers narrated stories, interactive games, and original videos that teach early childhood themes, including numbers, shapes, colors, opposites, and more. "Welcome to Reading" develops and strengthen phonics, vocabulary, phonemic awareness, and comprehension skills. "Know It" offers a richly visual first encyclopedia. Gives parents ideas to share with children and a way to search for book ideas by age & subject.

Resources from the Department of Education to help you get your student prepared for Kindergarten.

Ohio Department of Education Preschool Development 
Learn what your student should know before Kindergarten. Topics include the early learning content standards for preschools, child development from birth to age 5, and the importance of early learning for families.

A fun, interactive way to learn letters, sounds and numbers. Perfect for ages 3-5.

Scholastic Learning Games
This website is created by the Scholastic Book Publishers. Join your favorite book characters like Clifford in learning games and listening to stories.  Great for Pre-K to Grade 12.

PBS Kids
Join your favorite PBS Kids charaters in learning reading, science and math skills. Created for ages 2-5.

Dr. Seuss Fun 
Dr. Seuss is on the loose!  Come have fun with all the different characters from this famous author's books. There is math, science and reading fun. Ages 3 and up will enjoy this site.

Mother Goose Club   

This is a fun and interactive website celebrating nusery rhymes.  Enjoy videos, practicing writing letters and learning the history of your favorite mother goose rhyme.
